UK Quickfit Glassware ?

After spending weeks requesting catalogues from UK lab equipment suppliers I have received nothing
It seems that UK suppliers just don't want to deal with private individuals anymore. I'm not after purchasing chemicals, just plain old jointed glassware for use as stage props for my local amateur dramatics group
The main uk labware suppliers want you to have an account with them, how can I do this when I'm not a company ??
The only place left seems to be e-bay and they don't ever seem to have to stuff with the right fittings.
PM's welcome |

so get an account.
start a business. it's a legal technicality, not a personal thing. one person can run a business that makes no profit. it's just so the govt can keep a tab on you. (well, here anyways.)
Other thing is, you can often get whole sets (distillation, etc) from essential oil places and stuff. bit more expensive, and less choice, but no traces. |

| Certain well-known online auction sites even have categories for lab glassware - search for "flask" and "joint" for example, or "distillation" maybe.... *hint* |

| Elementary: you thespians need to look harder. There are lots of smaller glassware suppliers around. Some will take cash. The main suppliers won't touch a private individual. |

Have you tried the local yellow pages? There are smaller companies around who will sell to you. You may have to be prepared to field technical questions about what it is you're doing with this stuff - so have a cover story ready. Actually, it's almost certainly going to be the case that you'll be asked about what you're doing and don't say anything daft like "It's none of your business" - not if you want to actually buy any gear. For instance sometimes the question might be posed by a guy you've never met before who fields it in a friendly manner as he's packing your goods (that might even be the local chemical diversion guy from police county HQ seconded for a day! - hey, it happened to me!)
I'm sorry I can't give you my source but..., after reading of my experience with them above, would you really want them?
Email these eBay guys and ask them specifically for what you want. Even if they don't have it in stock they may be able to tell you where you can buy it without much fuss. |
