Go Fast via Lithium Cell

It seems that just about all you need to turn ephedrine into chloroephedrine and then the reduction to Go Fast is in a Lithium cell :

Thionyl chloride and Lithium metal !

All you would probably need is some chloroform as the chlorination solvent and a suitable solvent to perform the disolving metal reduction (lithium) reaction in.

Although you're correct in the halogenation of the OH in the amino alcohol (ephedrine(pseudo )), to the desired haloephedrine(pseudo).
The solvent you suggest is also a good choice, but the final reduction to the alkane from a halogen , you suggest that lithium will reduce it....?.
I also see why it should't since zncl + HCl will do a low yield job perhaps the lithium might improve on that and since the solvent is a chlorinating solvent the end product would be the alkane Hcl .......
Over all a good job and theory, now the real test to extrapolate the amount of batteries contents /gms of pseudo(ephedrine) and the amount of solvent. The over all conditions , ...i.e. reflux , remove the solvent with a brine wash separate the water solution and remove the water .......then see the dry salt matter= go fast.......java

elemental sodium in EtOH is an excellent reducing agent in many cases, so is lithium in liquid NH3. I think it could really work...

Maybe unclear description, thats true.

Let me try to explain Very Happy

: Everything that is strictly stimulants-related belongs there (even if the discussed compound is structurally related to phenethylamines), and everything being also applicable to other compounds (being not only stimulants-related) belongs into the other respective threads..

"go fast" is definitely one of the misc. stimulants for example, and this definition/name excludes other compounds already by the post's title.. Laughing
