And Pd is expensive and NaBH4 kind of hard to get by...
So final conclusion is only the red/al reductions gives good yields?
Does it give better yields then LiAlH4 in THF?
SWIM might give that a try on 2,5-DMNS...

red-al doesn't most likely give better yields than LAH but is easier to handle.

neither is Pd/C expensive nor is NaBH4 hard to come by!

I really enjoy your write-ups Icecool. Have you ever thought about doing one for LSD? That would bee great. Hopefully, if you ever do so it will bee via the Sulfan B route. You seem to have good access to chems so maybe you could also make some of these excellent write-ups for opiates and cocaine. I would love to see a write-up like this for synthetic cocaine. Wink
