Some kind of glass tubing with a big enough inner diameter to fit the flask's neck can be used, then you have to attach something around it to be able to let cold water flow around the glass tube all the time continuously.
The idea is to have an inner tube which contains vapors, and an outer tube around it. So that you have free space between them. This free space has to be sealed tightly so no water can exit it, and has to be fitted with a water inlet at the bottom and a water outlet at the top. Then you attach two hoses, run cold tap water into the bottom, and the water will flow around the inner glass tube, cool it and then exit out of the upper hose..
hope this helps!? |

Some people use a light bulb which has got a glass spiral inside.
And use that to make a graham condenser.
I would rather to keep it simple buy a glass tube and a bigger glass tube close the bottom and the top (the space between the two glass walls like indole sayd).
and then let it full of water.
Or something that sometimes is used at a rotavapor.
Only the bottom closed and fill the rest with ice. |

| depends on exactly what your doing with it and how ghetto you want to be, for alot of things you can probobly get away with the bendable copper tubing they sell spirals of at harware stores. provide eneough air flow over the coils and eneough feet of tubing (spiraled for compactness) and you won't need a water jacket. |

| swim really is trying to make a condenser for the HI+pfed reaction, glass ware is hard to obtain round swims area, and glass-blowers are watched-seriously, ..... swim is thinking of trying the glass blowers, but what sort of excuse if swim was ever asked what the condenser was for? are condensers part of alchohol brew kits? |
