The Vespiary has six guidelines that if everyone follows will produce an absolutely amazing site with amazing content. It is the six steps of the scientific method.

  • Inquire -- Find out what you want to know more about, what you are interested in, and what you want to achieve - Be specific!
We can't help you if you don't know what it is you want help with, nor can we help you if your request is to vague.

  • Research -- Read and learn as much as you possibly can about your inquiry.
We do not spoon feed, and being able to do research by yourself is valuable skill to develop.
Please do not clutter the forum with questions that can easily be answered by a simple search!

  • Hypothesize -- Make a hypothesis
A hypothesis is an educated guess about how things work: "If I do X then Y will happen."

  • Experiment -- Test your hypothesis, does it agree with your results?
You should also repeat your experiments several times to make sure that the first results weren't just an accident.

  • Analyze -- Figure out what happened.
Once an experiment is complete, collect measurements and analyze them to see if the hypothesis is true or false.

  • Communicate -- No one will gain anything if you cannot communicate your observations correctly.
If you take poor notes, they may not even be useful to you in the future!

If you have an inquiry, you research, hypothesize, experiment, and have analyzed it - please post the lab report at The Vespiary - regardless of the simplicity, people will benefit from it, and it sets a great example for others to do the same.
