well I'm straight, and right handed , but I have always had this 'thing' for left handed grrrls!
ps.Many years ago,,I got a crazy diseaese and I lost ALL feelings to my arms and legs (except that it HURT like hell...you know when your arm 'falls asleep' and as it 'wakes up' it hurts like fuck for a minute or so? well it was something like that, but ALL my waking hours, to various degrees, and not a part of my life I like to think much about,...however from a 'scientific point of view' read on..) ---
I could NOT MOVE my hands or feet, I could flex my knees and elbows and had limited movement in my hips and shoulders--BUT...the REALLY WEIRD BIT WAS....I could NOT FEEL a thing except this crazy "nerve noise"(see above) you could have stuck a knife through my arm or my leg and I wouldnt have known it was there unless i looked!!!
Anyway it took fuckin ages to "get better" and yes I am pretty ok now(Finally....
) but the point is,,,
as I recovered, I didnt have a "preference" for one 'side' or the other...which was kinda weird for me coz i had always been a totally "right handed" person, but as i continued working toward getting myself functioning,,as i said, it was very strange not "having a side" so to speak
I had always been right handed as far back as i can recall,,so why didnt wasnt I now, as my nerves regenerated,,they weren't "inclined" to 'prefer' my right side?
Eventually I did start to 'prefer' my right side,,after about 5 or 6 years of no preference...( I must say though, that I always tried to write with my right hand, tho at first they were as useless as each other!!!)
Now I had always been led to believe that "sidedness" is a result of having a "dominant side" of the brain. However, recent research suggests that this may be erroneous, and that the brain "takes sides",, 'primilarily', to facilitate fuctioning (sorry no quotes here,,just shootin from the hip)....and from my personal experiience,., I am inclined to agree
