Vesp, I think I dig why this interests you (could be mistaken though).

Mostly right hand, but I've had moments of ambidextrosity (?). Went left handed for a week, it was interesting. Then again, I can tell you my psyche is quite asymmetrical, perhaps more than the norm. I take it you've had fun observing people, paying attention to which side does what (especially during speech, oh my). You know, "individuals" only consider themselves single/united entities because the self concept refers to the whole; strange things happen when you screw that up. But I might not be making sense, it's difficult for me to tell with such gnostic subject matter.

Yeah pretty much but its been researched out a bit -- a while ago, so I don't have all the references.. but they can be found.

More males are left handed then females, also males tend to have asperger syndrome more than females.  Also male scientists have more estrogen than the average population. Asperger people tend to left handed more so than the general population, and have specific interests, etc...

I believe this has to do with prenatal programming due to higher amounts of testosterone in the womb (I believe left handedness and aspergers is most often found with the younger children of the family)

So pretty much - it seems like a lot of things  suggest that the % of people here would be left handed above the general population of people -- so I just wanted to see if my prediction was correct -- Though, if not everyone votes it is probably worthless because I bet left handed people vote on this, since they are a rarity -- but maybe not.  So far, with the few votes received -- most are left handed.

Well, I am left handed as well. -- Its interesting is all. Is estrogen related directly to left handedness, or just being a scientist? I've only heard the later, but it makes more sense for both to be true to me.

well I'm straight, and right handed , but I have always had this 'thing' for left handed grrrls!

ps.Many years ago,,I got a crazy diseaese and I lost ALL feelings to my arms and legs (except that it HURT like hell...you know when your arm 'falls asleep' and as it 'wakes up' it hurts like fuck for a minute or so? well it was something like that, but ALL my waking hours, to various degrees, and not a part of my life I like to think much about,...however from a 'scientific point of  view' read on..) ---

I could NOT MOVE my hands or feet, I could flex my knees and elbows  and had limited movement in my hips and shoulders--BUT...the REALLY WEIRD BIT WAS....I could NOT FEEL a thing except this crazy "nerve noise"(see above) you could have stuck a knife through my arm or my leg and I wouldnt have known it was there unless i looked!!!

Anyway it took fuckin ages to "get better" and yes I am pretty ok now(Finally.... :P) but the point is,,,
as I recovered, I didnt have a "preference" for one 'side' or the other...which was kinda weird for me coz i had always been a totally "right handed" person, but as i continued working toward getting  myself functioning,,as i said, it was very strange not "having a side" so to speak
I had always been right handed as far back as i can recall,,so why didnt wasnt I now, as my nerves regenerated,,they weren't "inclined" to 'prefer' my right side?

Eventually I did start to 'prefer' my right side,,after about 5 or  6 years of no preference...( I must say though, that I always tried to write with my right hand, tho at first they were as useless as each other!!!)

Now I had always been led to believe that "sidedness" is a result of having a "dominant side" of the brain. However, recent research suggests that this may be erroneous, and that the brain "takes sides",, 'primilarily', to facilitate fuctioning (sorry no quotes here,,just shootin from the hip)....and from my personal experiience,., I am inclined to agree :)

Vesp, I am of the opinion that the supposed 4/1 ratio of aspie males to females is a crock of shit, base  on older stats, IMO the difference, comes from the female of the species being more sociable by default, than the male, and thus any communicative deficits in aspie or autie females is offset, and thus masked to a degree.

Not less of them, just not so easily recognised.

Although there still aren't enough foxy autistic females to go around, sadly.

Very interesting point! I think that is correct, however - it is still a 4/1 ratio because it has to be debilitating to some degree, so while the females start off further on the social end, even if they move the same distance over due to whatever reason, they are still not in the aspie zone of the spectrum.

I think the problem with the whole argument is that it implies that people with Aspberger syndrome are more likely to be interested in clandestine chemistry or vice versa.

Good point - there perhaps isn't any reason that they would favor this topic over say... playing the piano.

well my right hand has been my companion many lonely nights it has never let me down.
until one day, i decided i'd had it.
and, i broke off my relationship with my right hand's object of affection.
so for many years i have come to rely upon my right hand.
i've been told i have aperger's sndrome by mental health professionals.
beacuse of my obsessive tendancies to the exclusion of everything else.
i understand the theory of savvants and the brain structure of savvants being the result of too much testorone in the womb.
in fact i noticed i feel incredibly strong when i take estrogen antagonists like tamoxiphen.
