My guess is you've changed your browser settings so it doesn't allow something, perhaps not enough/to much cache memory?
Who knows, hope you figure it out.

My guess honestly is something is changing them for me. I don't think my computer is healthy to say the lest.

Spooky.
Ever looked into using other operating systems? I mean, depending on what you do that could be a great option.
I believe PC-BSD is at least more secure and less likely to get viruses, etc
Than, do you use firefox? Getting no script and add block plus will also help to keep your computer healthy IMO

Have you tried using something besides Internet Explorer, that's very prone to browser hijacking Opera or Firefox would be a better choice but there are exploits written for them too

An issue I have with my computer as well is little people clicking away at buttons without knowing what there doing. No different OS in the world will fix that. I just been needing to wipe the system and install a new windows followed with setting up a different user account so if any issues do arise they will be easier to diagnose. Now im left questioning if a highjack or a small fry messed my computer up.
edit:
This kind of bugs me though because unprevoked when not even using facebook this shows up in a search engine
"xxx.facebook.com/plugins/likebox.php?id=250588340177"
Its as though something controlled my comp to bring this up in the search engine. I don't even use facebook that often or ever DL anything from it though so im a bit confused..

There's so many types of malware that are written daily that article on Wikipedia keeps expanding:
h**ps://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Malware#Concealment:_Trojan_horses.2C_rootkits.2C_and_backdoors
You've probably got what is known as grayware There are free anti malware programs that install such nonsense A full reinstall is probably your only viable solution

Once you have reinstalled, run a second OS inside a virtual machine like VirtualBox for web browsing. Then when it gets the creeping crud you can just restore from snapshot and everything is fixed in a minute. Of course if you get malware by opening dodgy files rather than drive-by browser exploits, even that won't save you...

I have noticed that it showes me as being signed in yet I only see the signed out view of SM. That could be a clue as to whats changed if I knew what caused it. What about the smilys here whts different about them over the other icons and images because I can't view them either.

I bet it is the cache! I always have problems with cache at least when modifying html pages when they are online...
What is your cache set to store?
I'd try deleting ALL of your history, clearing everything, and than login - after doing so, just delete your cache. That should fix the sciencemadness problem, but I could be wrong.
I have no idea why you wouldn't be seeing the smileys on this site.
But really, you ought to just install/re-install firefox

I have cleared out the history and messed with the settings to no end. I do feel that I have been infected with some of that gay ware that lugh was talking about although its effects could be more devious. Which searching Pubmed I can not use Molecular structure search anymore because it tells me my history is lost acting as though my history is constantly being deleted everytime I jump pages.

Well, if it is that bad, you ought to just get everything on an external harddrive, wipe it clean, and get a smaller operating system - something like Xubuntu or PC-BSD w/XFCE? it is different and not as easy to use but i think both are more secure, and at least lighter than XP, which would make the comp hopefully run better. Just reformatting it would do a lot of good probably.
