Well I'm new and all
« on: July 28, 2010, 06:38:22 AM »
Hey Guys,
I'm Aurum; I'm a bit of a tinkerer and a quick learner. I am not a complete amateur, but enough so that I will keep my mouth shut, head down and I will just look on for a bit. When there is something I don't know or understand I will do my best to try and learn more about it. With that, I am an avid reader. I realized I lacked much computer knowhow beyond the basics so now I am working my way through 8 or so 400 page books. Chemistry has always been a passion of mine though, so this should be a good place to be. I have an avid thirst for knowledge and for now I am glad to be a silent onlooker giving my two cents where it could be applicable.

Thanks,
Aurum

I heard about this place from Hex, and it seems pretty nice around here, I like the way it looks.

He has been at Shadowrx.com for the most part. That is where I spend most of my time as well.

If your thirsty this is the place to bee. I have learned so much in the few months that I have been apart of this forum. Stuff about chemistry and tons about computers. The law of reciprocity: take your fill now and give back a little when ya can. I hope you enjoy The Vespiary as much as I do and of course welcome.

Shadowrx.com? a new forum I've never heard of.. how exciting! What is the story behind this forum, and how long has it been going?
It seems like it has a "end of the world" or "the government is out of control and we need to prepare" type thinking around it though perhaps not? I just skimmed it a little bit --maybe it is something similiar to E&W forum?
I'll check it out later, but does it have some pretty good chemistry and the like around it or would you describe it as a fairly newb-ish type forum like that zoket/totse crap?

It is a general "underground forum" as you may have seen. It doesn't have too much in the way of drug related chemistry. It is pretty no BS, we hate all of the Bombshock Zoklet type kewls and all that crap. It has more explosive based chemistry than drug related, because our main drug chemist had to leave. They do have some interesting topics though and I spend a lot of time there.

I see, well that is cool. Would you happen to have any updates or what the story is behind RS/E&W forum?
its main page claims it is coming back, but I don't even know if it is from the same person, or what...

Rogue Sci is apparently making a return, but I am not sure if you heard but NBK2000 died a few months back after he allegedly murdered his neighbor and escaped to Canada. I would actually talk to Hex if you wanted to know, he is more in touch with the RS guys. I was actually going to ask you Vesp if you had any recommended literature for getting a good grip on drug related chemistry etc. Anything would be welcomed. I downloaded about 12 different college chem texts, and I can give you a list if you would like and tell me what would be good or bad. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I am no where even near the best chemist here, I just created the site and that is my primary interest. I haven't had hardly any formal education in it, and just have picked it up from reading forums and out of date books that I have.
Once you get 10 posts you will be able to see the reference section of this site - I believe there are a lot of books there that will help you out - and articles in general. Sciencemadness has a great library also.

Thank you, I will be sure to look around there. I have seen a lot of posts by Sedit is he one of the better chemists? I haven't had much in the way of formal education in chemistry either.

Yes, he also really has a great DIY/OTC and out of the box way of thinking too - Naf1 also really knows his chemistry also, but a lot of the members here do also, but I "know" those two pretty well... and others also know a lot about computers, security, how to get references, etc - Just look around, there seems to be an expert in just about everything here. :)
I'm sure searching around on this forum you'll probably find some recommended chemistry books.

I have to beg to differ but I guess it is what it is. Perhaps im to humble for my own skin but I perform nothing the average Joe himself could not do with the will power.

Im not some much a good chemist but more along the lines of a dedicated chemist when the time finds me and I can play to my hearts desire. Many place me on a pedistal I dont feel I deserve but if it aid you if gaining insite then I would have to assume its not all in vain.

We have many members here at thevespiary that are much better chemist then me and the work going into a synthesis is much easier for them then myself so I do not wish them to feel left out. Just as you value my input I value there 2x as much and we all grow and learn as a general rule of chemistry.
There once were some bees and you took all there stuff!
You pissed off the wasp now enough is enough!!!

Yeah, but in the end it isn't really the individual at the forum -- but the diversity of the people, and the interests of each person who is willing to contribute is what makes this, and other forums a great resource. A group of say approximately  100 active posters, with varying interests, educations, ages, and different experiences has a lot to offer, especially when they all hold roughly the same common interest.
