« on: August 28, 2010, 02:04:12 PM »
I just made MDP2P via wacker PdCl2 catalysed oxidation with benzoquinone. I extracted with 3x 100ml DCM washed the organic with plenty of NaOH 5% then 2x 250ml brine. I tried to distill the resulting oil under vacuum. DCM va recovered easily at RT but I heated to 180 degree (15 mbar) nothing came up in the column, no safrole , no MDP2P !! 2 h after i stopped because crytals forming inside the vigrous column. These xtals smell exactly like camphor !! fuck ! where is my mdp2p ?? I washed the ganz oil again with NaOH 5% to remove the dirties ( i used 2 l of NaOH !!) and tried to dissolve the öl into bisulfit but oily spaghettis are formed, only a few oil dissolved...

thanks for your help ...
