I thought about it guys :
1) Calcium propionate and chlorine are allowed to react to form Propionic chloride.
2) 3-tropinone and propionic chloride are reacted to form 2-Propanoyl-3-Tropinone
Do you think it'll work ?
It could be a good alternative to Carbomethoxylation (wich is a pain to perform).
(WF-23 has this propanoyl group and it's several times more potent than cocaine)
Simply hydrogenation with NaBH4 (that's me ^_^!) will then give 2-propanoyl-3-(pseudo)tropine.
Esterification with benzoic anhydride is done on 2-Prop.-3-tropine to forme cocaine.
