I have been getting a ridiculous amount of viruses lately. Its possibly due to an already compromised Windows OS but I think a lot of it has to do with faulty programing for Java script and Flash and difficulty updating to the most recent versions designed to plug leaks caused by programers error.

I recently am dealing with win32/alureon.ez which came in thru an infected flash program and the virus scanner(s)(advast and Microsoft security essentials) never picked it up until it had already gotten its hold.

It Deleted all the short cuts in my start menu, turned almost every file in the OS to hidden, Locked my task manager thru the administrative settings(still haven't figured out how to turn it back on), deleted all my administrative tools, and it appears to be overlaying my desktop with a fake window that is blank causing me to see nothing on the desktop. This variation of the Alureon was reported june 5th and I aquired the virus on the 7th so im kind of pissed my scanners did not pick it up before hand but Im assuming its mode of action is still not understood.

Just take care everyone because these internet addons are given way to much power anymore and they are going to be more and more of an issue as these programmers that design them come up with new and inventive ways for them to access your computer. As they give the add ons more control hackers will almost always be one step ahead of them in exploiting any of these addons.

Convenient isn't it, government gets there panties in a bunch over bit coins then suddenly someone pulls off a massive heist which will more then likely crush the value of the bit coin.

"Kaspersky dubs rootkit a killer

TDSS, TDL-4 most complex and sophisticated tool

Insecuirity experts at Kaspersky Lab have dubbed the latest version of the malware, TDSS, TDL-4 as the most complex and sophisticated tool is the in the cybercriminals’ arsenal.

n statement the outfit said that the powerful rootkit component and other TDL capabilities allow the author to create a botnet made up from millions of personal computers. Kaspersky Lab said that the software has its own encryption method for communication between computers in the botnet and to the command and control servers. It also used of a public peer-to-peer network for sending commands to control infected computers, and adding proxy server functionality to enabling cybercrimnals to sell anonymous internet access through infected computers.

Kaspersky Lab experts, Sergey Golovanov and Igor Sumenkov warned that changes in TDL-4 have been aimed at building a botnet which is as well-hidden from competitors and anti-virus companies alike. It would also allow access to infected machines even if all the command centres were closed. TDL-4 can now delete around 20 of the most popular competing malware on an infected machine, including widespread programs such as Gbot, ZeuS, Optima and others, they said."

I reccomend using having a file shredding tool capable of performing a multiple pass overwrite of chosen files, or folders on ones desktop for fast access. Absoluteshield file shredder is the one I use. Free, very lightweight, and quite quick. Simple interface, it just does what it says on the tin, so to speak. Either a cursory 1/2 pass overwrite, all the way to a DOD-standard wipe, or a guttman wipe if you want to go bloody well postal on something you want rid of.

I also run a program that runs in the background, and can be set to delete a great number of traces within the windows OS, as well as media player (ick! nasty), swap files, internet history (I use firefox, in permanent private browsing mode, set to delete everything I don't like, and usually, never let it in in the first place along with the ad-blocker plugin, with which I block every ad I see, unless its a site I will never visit again, although I am careful, if its a site I do not want to be seen visiting, then I won't, as then it will be named in the log list of banned ads)

No, I am not a nonce, BTW !!!

Likewise for other software. Tracks eraser pro (or CCcleaner if you like that one) multiple-pass overwrites cookies, used/viewed file history data within the OS, nukes the pagefile, tosses the cookies one sets, although one can choose to save certain ones, you name it, it kills it, and thoroughly at that.

Can be set to run on boot time, on shutdown, even every time a browser opens or closes.

There is my contribution....now I want something in return, if anyone has the mind to help out....

I want to know a good, free firewall, can't demand a mass of resources, as this computer, its only a 800mhz with 600 megs of RAM, so I am limited in what I can run. I want a stateful firewall, and some light-weight tripwire software, the firewall in particular, I want to be able to filter packets not just on port, source/destination and protocol, but on specific flags set within the packets in question.
Nomen mihi Legio est, quia multi sumus

I'm hyperbolic, hypergolic, viral, chiral. So motherfucking twisted my laevo is on the right side.
