Ibogaine
« on: November 19, 2010, 06:09:40 PM »
Today's LA Weekly came out and their cover story is about how a drug called ibogaine instantly cures addiction. They say people who have been addicted to meth and opiates their entire lives have tried everything and nothing had worked. Then they take ONE dose of ibogaine and they instantly have no cravings. Apparently the drug resets all your tolerances (I wonder if this would work on making MDMA work again on people who have lost it's ability). Anyways as amazing as all that sounds the real thing that caught my attention is that they said that ibogaine is a much more powerful hallucingenic then LSD. They said the affects are exactly like LSD just much more powerful. Considering that the drug has been around and scheduled since 1967 and I have never heard of it I found that claim to be hard to believe. Anybody have any info on ibogaine and can attest or debunk the LSD comparisons?

I cannot attest to the comparison between LSD and Ibogaine but its use in the treatment of addiction is pretty well established. I provided a link to a torrent in one of the threads on this forum about ibogaine that contains all you could want to know about the drug. The scheduling is due to the purported cardiotoxicity of the drug.

It is supposed to be one hell of a ride.

ibogaine should only be done when administered by a professional who monitors vitals, from what i've read it wreaks havoc on your CNS

Ibogaine seems truly amazing, from the description of the trip it seems to help you visualize/understand the events in your life which led you to be addicted to heroin, etc.  They say that every human being does what they think is best for them at all times given their current understanding or "map" of the world.  Ibogaine like many other psychedelics tears that map up and help you see things from another perspective.  There have been accounts of people coming off large opiate habits with no taper or sickness other then from the ibogaine.. It is explained to laymen as "resetting the receptors" or such.  Can anyone back this up with references?

I have been interested in using T. iboga root cultures infected with the hairy root fungus with the proper plasmids to constantly produce alkaloids in a bubbled reactor...

i can tell you that it doesnt keep you from wanting a fat $20 bag as soon as you come down. been there, done that. i didnt take it in a controlled environment or in a hospital, but i tried to administer myself in a manner similar to literature although it wasnt possible to measure out dosages like they do in a lab or hospital...

and for me, at best it was a distraction from needing some dope... but as soon as i began coming back into control of my senses, i recognized i was sick and wanted a shot.

maybe its the answer for some, but suboxone is the only miracle drug ive found for opiate withdraws.

Hi Jboogie,

Any chance of a trip report in the bioassay forum? One documentary I viewed on this where a Scottish heroin addict went into one of the clinics as a kind of last resort showed that he had to take a massive ammount of the drug for effect.
