tonight's lunar eclipse and meteor shower

in for a treat toninght at 11:43 pm PST the lunar eclise begins and the geminid meteor shower peaks at around midnight tonight as well.
the gemind shower will be visible from the northeast.

My stalker/new GF typhanee was telling me about watching this, I am unsure though if it could have been seen in the UK though, I did look, but the sky was cloudy where I am, so saw nothing.

This was supposed to be the darkest day in a very long time - being the shortest day of the year in addition to a lunar eclipse..
Funny thing is that I would think it would be ice cold, but its raining and grass is growing. That doesn't make sense its winter!
