salicylic acid ester with dimethylaminoethanol
« on: January 22, 2011, 04:33:11 AM »
or
2-(dimethylamino)ethyl 2-hydroxybenzoate

Anyone think it has any potential?
I slightly doubt it but im kinda apt to want to try it because of the precursors being salicylic acid and dmae.
Just require a simple esterification.

dimethylaminoethanol salicylate, im curious to see if anyone has tried it or if there are any papers on it because i didn't find any. At best it may be dopaminergic at worst it is anticholinergic or psychoatively intert.

Would this be somewhat similar to Hydroxytetracaine.

Structurally yes, but how important is that 4-position amine with the butyl chain?
Chances are it is just going to be a local anesthetic i guess?

Be careful! That aminoester is liable to be a 'local anaesthetic' even if not a very powerful one, which taken internally can upset the heart and even CNS. And it looks like a relatively high dose would be needed to get any anticholinergic activity, or dopaminergic which I doubt, out of it.

Try it anyway, but just be careful.
