Well, I can't comment on that synth, as I've never run it, but I can say this: if your concern is not theoretical, but is limited to study help for intensive subjects, then why choose methylphenidate? There are countless routes to amphetamine and methamphetamine, at least several of which will involve whatever precursors and reagents are available wherever you are.

If you've used both methylphenidate and the amphetamines and prefer the methylphenidate, then good luck in your quest, although I should point out that most people I know who have a genuine need for the stuff prefer the amphetamines over the methylphenidate for serious study sessions.

Even 4-methylaminorex is more straightforward on the acquisition front. I remember there being a good thread on The Hive which was able to eliminate the cyanogen bromide everyone usually gripes about.
