Palladium Chloride Lifespan?
« on: June 27, 2011, 06:43:30 AM »
Okay, I seen some suggestions photo grade PD might degrade over time and have exhaustively googled for some literature on this and found nothing..? My friend has a reasonable amount which is about a year old, anyone have an experience to suggest that it wouldn't work in a wacker?

Okay, to save the 12 pages of reading (good article anyway): I didn't draw any conclusions that PD stored in a 'baggie' in a dry, dark location would degrade. Various hydrogenations and chemicals etc do however deactivate the PD.

well ok terror. from my experience. it will degrade if the baggy is shitty, and it will degrade through the bag! double bag it and keep air out.. youll see the colour change over time if air is getting to it.. as far as how active your cat is now i am not sure.

Yeah, got it in a normal baggy, followed by a super heavy duty baggy  ;)

Got some 11-year-old stuff here, but it's been in a thick plastic bottle, closed up all that time. I'm betting it's still good. I looks the color I remember, a sort of ruddy, reddish dark brown.

Yeah, If I recall what this one looked like when I got it, it's about the same still. I think when it degrades it looks more dusty than thick.. hard to describe lol!

Cheers MM
