The quality of this forum has decreased gradually over the long run, after it had been at its prime.
Today - that is going to change as there is a REAL threat of not being able to post if you post off-topic, useless content or violate the rules.

Also as a note to the moderators; do not give retro-active warnings. A Change in rules leads to a change in behaviour. So only warn members from the posts they make from here on out.

Here are the settings:

Warning level for user watch
The user warning level after which a user watch is put in place - 10 points

Warning level for user muting
The user warning level after which a user cannot post any further -- 60 points

Maximum user warning points per day
This value is the maximum amount of warning points a single moderator can assign to a user in a 24 hour period - 20 points

Warning points to decrement from users every 24 hours
Only applies to users not warned within last 24 hours - It is set to 0 to disable. (Meaning they never decrement)

Users who can see warning status
Determines who can see the warning level of users on the forum. --- ALL users. I think this will have a social aspect as well, and so it is visible to all.


I will likely change these settings - but i figured I'd give you guys a heads up to be on good behaviour... and review the rules..

I would also like to point out that the increments the points are added is 5 points per time.
So two warnings => watch list.
12 warnings => No more posting privileges.


If you don't like this... tell me why and maybe I can change some settings...

I think there should bee some system in place, where irrespective or warning points issued, one can nevertheless, still contact the admin team, in order, if applicable, to resolve an issue.

I think perhaps its a good idea, that way, people could see at a glance, if people are being upstanding members of the community or utter cunts. Worked over at the hive (oh those were the days, those were the days, I remember all the shit tha used to fly on the couch...that was some hilarious stuff at times. Were you ever a member Vesp?)

yeah i think it would be decent.. points for asking good, fair questions, points for giving good answers, i think i have tried to be really helpfull to all the noobs i can, and the few silly things i do or have done get me banned and all the good i have done seems to disappear

They currently NEVER expire - but that might change if it become a big issue.


For the karma points the members can vote on each member only once per hour (or day.. if I set it that way..)
So they cannot be flooded with negative karma.
Again - the karma literally doesn't do anything -- it just gives a heads up to members that "oh hey, this person is disliked and doesn't know his stuff" or "oh this guy is brilliant and everyone loves him"

      I'm not sure about,,, the 'Karma Votes",,,   ( I "Just Read TLS's post,After  I had written this post and was just about to Post it.-And I MUST agree extensively with TheLoneStranger's POV --Exactly what the "one post only" concept,   Problems with   'Counters"
                --that red notice comes up telling tou a new post has been made,,,I like it,,lots of benefits, to 'Know first', Before posting,  What will preceed your post,  which Can Be a hassle leading to confusing mix and reading, of thae posts

                             And as you can see, I have Included some ideas that "might be able to give a system like this,, the Benefits it " potentially has" however, as is mentioned, as was forseen, this is what I think Might Possibly Work!!
   
       IMHO they MUST Be,,,
                                         "Limited to; One Vote, Per Member,Per Thread/ Topic/ Post",                         This way,,, NO member can, let's say,, on a weekly basis,, Or maybe,,Even, each time, they come across, "That SAME Post", that they "Laid some Negative Karma upon",....etc  IF ITS,,,,emotive Rationale/Ego Bullshit motivated,Judgement",and,,They "Do It Again and Again!"....Etc etc ..........Its like a, Smear Campaign!!+NO GOOD for Anyone, as its "Biased data"...Simple.

     You can However, stop this from Happening by,, "ONLY Giving Members,"ONE Opportunity" to Heap Neg Karma on someone, for "Their Own"(Possibly Valid) reasons"
  (And, maybe a way to see "Who complains about whom?")
   That could also help Stop, any "Bullying",,, so to speak.

  Maybe you Could Include, the option for a member to REVERSE their "Decision, from Negative to Positive, If for "Some Reason" that Member, 'Changes their Mind',,,   --- and wants to Reverse their position,( Re; the Negative Karma, they Put Upon someone) HOWEVER,,,
                       Once Again;   
            ONLY Single Choices, "One Vote, ONCE"  I.E>    ANY member,, CAN ONLY ONCE: And,,  "Either, Remove,, OR Reverse,,,"An Earlier Decision they made,, to Judge against another Member...( AND,,Very Possibly,,,"Quite RIGHTLY SO!") for,
                       "in matters of something, that IS, by NECCESSITY "A Science" with Numerous Interesting Contests , regarding these;
                                                  "Inviolate Rules of Organic (and Other) Chemistry,,and Nature" 

         After All, isn't what this place IS REALLY  ABOUT......"breaking thru, some New Ground,in a Variety of ways, with a Variety of "things"--?
       
                Which, I, for one,, enjoy, to see a few members having an "Intellectual Tussle" on the Forum, and often things have evolved,( (sometimes with some "potential animosity" generated in the process) which May, OR may not,, Change with time ?"....

           (hence the NEED for Being Able to "Retract" ones "Judgements", on the "post, OR The Poster",,due to "realizing One was Mistaken" for making either Positive OR Negative remarks, I Feel Is Very Important, for we All " make mistakes at times ",,and may later want to "show" the "Other Party Involved", that "we were wrong, or mistaken, in our previous judgements of them...
 (based on "No Need To Explain --- unless They Want to Know?, and you probably, 'owe them that!')
           
                     And  By Our 'Actions',, that "we have come to see/understand, "They, Were,, 'Mistaken',,
  in  The  Awarding ( or Not!)  of   in/appropriate' "Karma Points",, and then at a 'Later stage' wish to "Make them Otherwise"---         
                     
 BUT;     Members,,   CANNOT: ,, "Reverse A "Good",, awarding,  of  ANY TYPE,    of   "P2P "  "Assessment "Into a Negative One"  ...EVER...--- THIS IS INVIOLABLE!
     So Think Deeply, and Choose CAREFULLY!   BEFORE,, 
                     "judging one of you peers"
 
                    This would (hopefully ) simply make the Members put At Least Some Thought Into giving a Post,, "The thumbs Up OR the Thumbs Down",,when when looked at rationally,,

          Being too Hasty To vote, can also make problems, again, why the Need To Retract or VARY, a  Negative action, Into, either; A Neutral Situation-where the member can retract "Bad Karma" they ever "Put on someone",,and Reverse it,, ONLY  into a  "Neutral", that is--Deleting the NEG Karma,  or  "replacing the NK with, at least, the same amount Positive Karma " they Had Given,Once Negatively....
    I think it has A "nice poetic Justice" type Ring, to  it, this Idea......you kinda Pay for "being Nasty or Negative"            
         
          Oh and,, ,  It would be GREAT,, IF you COULD Somehow?, create a system where a Member CAN REDEEM themselves, after maybe Writing some Good Posts,--or maybe "Karma points can be 'used' to "Cancel Out some of, One's Sins!!!"
