Pot legal in Canada?

Antibody was purusing the lists of scheduled drugs in Canada and according to schedule VIII the threshold for cannabis is 30g. I know there hasn't been much interest in procescuting pot smokers for some time now, but I didn't realize the threshold was that high. 8)

A few years ago Ab2 and a friend were smoking pot on the roof of a parking lot before heading into a club, AB2 turns around and there is cop walking towards us, not 20 feet away. Ab2 tosses her bag of dope off the roof, smiles at the cop as he tells us to clear out. What Ab2 did not realize until she got the the ground flloor exit was that there was another cop on the ground picking up our stash. Yikes! But that cop just waved us through. I though they had cut us a break and said "thank you" (Ab2 always thanks a cop when they cut her some slack). But now I realize, they didn't cut us any slack, we were below the threshold. I wonder if I could have gotten away without tossing my stash?

Oh well, better safe than sorry, lol.

If I remember correctly, it's decriminalized under 30g. Since it's still illegal, they can fines you  8)

IIRC most Canadian drug laws, even manufacture, are much more kind than US ones.

 I think most Western Commonwealth countries share 'similar' policies re pot, in Oz it WAS a 30g limit that allowed LE to just confiscate the pot and issue a warning,
 (although 2 of our states decriminalised pot 25 years ago! = $50 fine IF caught w <50gms---and it USED to be one could have 12 plants for "personal use" NOT hydroponically grown--now its 2, as peeps are getting over 500gms DRY weight BUD, from 1 plant! non hydro)
   
    so in reality, its LESS of an "offence" to get caught where its ILlegal . . .ya gets a warning, and walk, but more than once and well, not much, a fine . . .not neccesarily even a "record" as many fines are given without "conviction"

more than 250gms = trafficking, BUT this can be argued--an old mate got done with 12+ pounds(~5kg), and said "its personal, I smoke 14gms a day!" and walked with a fine of a few grand . . .this was back in the 80's, In fact, overall, penalties 25 years ago were LESS than now! :o
   
whats weird is that the states where pot ISNT legal, due to the 'warning' system, effectively punish (first time caught!) stoners LESS than where its actually decriminalised...

 go figure?  last NY's i was sitting in a main street about 4am, drinking a beer and smokin a big spliff, when a cop came up, and asked me to TIP OUT THE BEER!  ;D
   although I was outside a pub, I was in an "alcohol free zone" BUT in a state where pots illegal!  He saw (and smelled, I guess) the joint, and said NOTHING!
I KNOW, most cops prefer to deal with stoners, than drunks, shit, so do I

 from what I know, canada is even MORE relaxed than here 8)
