the dermorphine frog
« on: July 02, 2012, 05:50:00 AM »
hi folks, just stumbled upon a strange product at an ethnobotanical supplier:
Quote
A Kambo Stick is a small wooden stick, with on its surface the dried secretions of a bright green tree frog called the Phyllomedusa bicolor.
I think this dermorphine containing amphibiae is more or less known, i think its a pet too, but ive never seen such a preparation for abuse?
My only personal contact to hallucinogenic animals is limited to a few fire salamander ive seen, and to the two bufo alvarius someone i knew posesses, but only on pictures. That there actually is a useable exportable product containing the frogs secretion (it says 50 "dots" or portions per stick :o ) it totally new to me.
Just thought i open a topic about it as it was missing in my opinion (it says  OTHER organisms, right? ;) )
heres a wiki link about the substance:

The bofo alvarius and phyllomedusa bicolour also contain alkaloids. As do countless others.

i read a few pieces about its traditional use as pain killer, and now total surprising i saw that a whole lot of ethnobotanical supplier actually stock such a thing ;D
