Smelt Metals in a Microwave

Don't know if any of y'all do any home smelting...

But Metallurgy is a branch of Chemistry.

Oh yes I have seen this article before and I've been interested in doing it. I even have a bag of what I believe to be silicon carbide. If I can ever located it again, I would like to try to make a nice crucible out of it. Not to sure how I'd go about making the fairly coarse silicon carbide into a crucible though.

Also.. they didn't seem to have much luck with silicon carbide, so that is dissapointing, but if I remember correctly I've seen other places on the net that have claimed success with SiC as an absorber.
