The explosive TATP is some 80% as powerful as TNT, and much less stable.  In this case it was mixed with a liquid concrete and magnesium sulfate premix.

Using OTC chemicals TATP was made, but not purified further than the dry filtrate.  5g of TAPT was filtered very carefully into a threaded and capped PVC pipe that was then filled with a small amount of liquid concrete to completely fill the precut tube. The now sealed PVC pipe was then put into a larger metal pipe, but before sealing the metal pipe it was filled with salt water.

This was detonated using a custom designed tele-bluetooth link system and a medium sized fire cracker. The explosion left a fairly large sofa sized hole in the ground.
 
To note, TATP was not under pressure or subject to high temperatures. The metal was steel, and was washed before use - as was the PVC.

You probably realize this, but organic peroxides are not only unstable in that they're easy to accidentally set off, they're so unstable (the bond strengths are only something like 5-10kcal/mol over that available at room temperature) that they can, and have, gone off for no decipherable reason whatsoever.

Obviously a sofa sized hole your chest would pose a problem for your future.

No judgment, just want to be sure you're aware how dangerous that stuff really is. It's a lot better to keep the quantities to a minimum and only use it as an initiator, if at all. Lead azide is a lot safer and not too hard to come by.

Not an offense, but I would for sure more likely see a few dozens of uneducated threads asking for spoonfeed involving methamphetamine, than one about initial explosives, or even worse toxins.

They are not only dangerous for the chemist, also they are a lot more dangerous for the hobby as they are the true reason for chemical bans! Imagine someone discovers this site, he first will think "oh these guys must be dangerous drug chemists" but one additional read trough a thread like this and the opinion one gets changes to something like  "wtf, they are drug chemists AND bomb makers, what a dangerous and harmful bunch of whacky terrorists?!"

As for toxins...actually toxicology, I find quite an interesting subject. And with the sort of things we of this forum, and others like it may or may not bee getting upto...it is as well to understand how the body works, and how it can be made to stop working. Remember Kidston, and MPTP?

A good understanding of toxicology could mean the differene between for instance, reading the half-life and binding data for say, oxymorphazone and either thinking 'nice, lets try some', and realizing its a covalent-binding agonist that will do a neat job of forcing the internalization of the MOR afterwards.
