Wanted References January 2013
« on: January 02, 2013, 11:15:54 AM »
Steps to make the people who fetch articles for you happy:

1) UTFSE for your article here and at other boards. You'd be surprised at the myriad articles that we have already fetched. If you find it somewhere else, and it's important for the community, start a thread about it or post it in the "Articles of Interest" thread.

2) Make sure that the article is already in digital format. If it isn't, include that fact with your request.

3) Color your requests blue, and provide the following required information so that we can use our limited time wisely retrieving your article instead of searching for the necessary information. Your article request probably won't be filled if you don't include a DOI. You can simply fill in the form below.

Code: [Select]
Authors
Article Title
Journal Title Year, Volume(Issue):Page range
DOI:____
PMID:____

Abstract
If you can find the abstract, paste it here.

An Example using a previously fetched article (not the greatest because Synlett uses the year as its volume number, but you get the point):

Li-Xiong Shao, Min Shi
N-Bromosuccinimide and Lithium Bromide: An Efficient Combination for the Dibromination of Carbon-Carbon Unsaturated Bonds
Synlett 2006, 2006(:1269-1271
DOI: 10.1055/s-2006-941558
PMID: None

Abstract
Compounds possessing unsaturated bonds such as alkenes, alkynes, allenes, and methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs) can be dibrominated within minutes by NBS and lithium bromide in THF at room temperature in good to excellent yields under mild conditions.

TBCA mediated microwave-assisted Hofmann rearrangement
Leandro S.M. Mirandaa, Thayane Rabello da Silvaa
Tetrahedron Letters
Volume 52, Issue 14, 6 April 2011, Pages 1639–1640
http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.tetlet.2011.01.126

Abstract
A protocol for the microwave-assisted Hofmann rearrangement mediated by TBCA/KOH/MeOH was developed. Under these conditions high yields and short reaction times were observed for aromatic benzamides.

Note Comments .......by fishinabottle
TBCA is tri-bromo isocyanuric acid analogue to TCCA. Preparation is more or less by adding bromine to cyanuric acid IIRC. DBCA, the di-bromo variant is available commercially as pool desinfectant in special for people allergic to chlorine. There is little doubt DBCA with adjustment to available bromine content will work just fine, it does so in a plethoria of other reactions.
The question heat or not is IMHO to be answered with both. Heat yes, but a rather short heating up and cooling down phase. Rapid cooling down will logically also further product conservation.
Maybe I am completely wrong though.  :D

Actually just found an issues with Springer.com. Looks like you can just view the document preview and get the URL directly to an image of the page. For example: http://link.springer.com/static-content/0.5898/lookinside/401/art%253A10.1007%252Fs13738-011-0064-1/001.png. You can just change the last number to download all pages of the article, fail. This

I have copied together the images as a PDF for you, no OCR and resolution is a bit lower but it should work for you. Happy dreaming.
