Sayin' hi to the nest

Hey wasps  :D

It's been about two years since I was here I think... the main reason for that probably being that I haven't been able to do much of "a wasp's work" in that time. I've been under the boot of poverty really. Not abject poverty, as I'm lucky to have a partner with a good job who pays the rent and all, and she's very kind and generous.  I'm basically the house chef (food, I mean) in exchange for that. But I have had very little money and thus no way to consider working at waspy pursuits. As you can all imagine, I really want to since I am so poor.

For most of this time though, I was feeling out "the market" (as it exists to me in extremely limited form through the few people I know) and finding that there was no real interest, so there was no reason to put energy into trying.  I know that several of you here believe that one should "never ever sell" and I agree in principle, but in reality that's not much of an option for me. So for quite a while the problem was no demand, though I had a place I could do the work with a partner (a PhD chemist, at his home), but now things have changed and ironically, the demand seems to be returning but at the same time, the place to work is no longer cool! This wasp just can't win. So frustrated he feels like stinging himself.

Sometimes I think about selling off all the gear, but that would be stupid. I would still like the option to be able to do other (legal?) things with it, since that can be fun. I wish I could think of a legal way to make a living with the gear. That way I could keep it warm until some future when I had enough money to live in a place by myself and do the more interesting work. Anyone have any ideas on how a wasp could do something legit with lab glass to make money?

I've even considered going to local farmers markets and setting up a booth doing simple steam distillations of herbs in glass as a visual aid to selling essential oils, but I know that would get me pegged as "that crazy dude with the lab glass" in town, which might be counterproductive in the end. Still, it would be legal and fun. Any other ideas? I'm eager to hear them!

I hope you've all been well and safe,
MM

There's a methyl to my madness...

Hey Methyl Man!

I unfortunately have no suggestions for what you're asking, but I just wanted to welcome you back! I have been wondering were you have been.

So, Welcome Back! :)
