« on: June 02, 2013, 05:26:09 PM »
Ok ill start by letting you all know i am a young noob and just getting into the game

I am going to try the diazepam synthesis...

150 gram of 5-chloro-isatoic anhydride is combined with 1400ml litre of dimethylformamide, 80 grams of anhydrous sodium carbonate and 200 grams of methyl iodide. Stir the reaction at room temp for 24 hours. Then add reaction contents to 7000ml of water and then recrystallized from acetic acid

Will this work ?

I can't comment on the synthesis from personal experience, but I can offer you this advice:

This level of laziness is generally not well received here.
You've copied and pasted the first paragraph of a multiple step valium synthesis you found in the rhodium archive and scaled it up considerably.
Understand that trial and error is second nature in this game. Please don't waste your time and reagents (if any) trying to do this in one attempt.
Not to make this seem like a personal attack, but your efforts thus far do not bear the hallmarks of a successful chemist.

Ah, Java you beat me to it. Good to see, the moderation is starting to get back to where it should be.
