I've always wanted more of an insight into how organized drug distribution and synthesis is organized, and what role police corruption plays in it. Mainly I want to know the degree of police corruption that happens, be it the US, Aus or anywhere else

Is the majority of the narcotics market controlled by suit wearing triad and mafia syndicate? Well organized, with paid officials in customs and the law enforcement backing them? Or is it just smash and grab, gangs and maniac mexicans running it all. Are they cool headed and clever businessmen, or tyrannical psychopaths?

Maybe someone could offer some sources or material I could read, I find this area absolutely fascinating.

I too am fascinated by this area aswell. I have done lots of reading around it but haven't as such pieced much together. I know a few people who are pretty heavily involved in importation and distribution but for obvious reasons not much is ever discussed between friends.

I'll try participate some if this thread gets going.
