Yeild came out to 22.83g, or a 90% yeild.  (Theo = 124.1266)
They are some impurities present, so I'd estimate closer to 22g even, or maybe slightly under.  Hopefully I'll have the formylation and the methylation up within a few days.  I now have half a liter of DMS en route :D

Make the DMS? because it was 31 bucks for 500ml, and there is significantly less chance of me being exposed to it this way. It boils at 188C and decomposes at that temp, so I'd have to use vacuum, which would flood my lab with DMS vapors.  Plus, I have no oleum, and that's the best way to make the DMS.

Shipping was exactly $25, no additional fees.  It is either incorporated into this shipping fee, or the small amount of DMS can be shipped ORD-M.  DMS is not as toxic as far as acute exposure and immediate toxicity go.  For this reason, I believe it can be shipped ORD-M.  The brain carcinogen part has never been tested on humans, only lab animals, and as such it is only listed as a 'potential carcinogen'.

They don't make anything with it they just enjoy the fact that they synthesised Para-Methoxyphenol.
