Looking for a good OTC synthesis for glyoxylic acid. Wikipedia says "The compound is formed by organic oxidation of glycolic acid or ozonolysis of maleic acid." Ozonolysis seems like a lot of trouble according to wikipedia. If it is actually super easy any reading suggestions? The organic oxidation makes a lot more sense to me. Glycolic acid is OTC so that's good and the first thing that popped into my mind was reacting it with hydrogen peroxide. Then I started trying other things. Sorry, no electron write up, don't remember how to do that. Please check chemistry.
