The "Beijing Cocktail"
« on: September 15, 2009, 12:17:20 AM »
In the movie Crank the star (Jason Statham) is injected with the "Beijing Cocktail". This "Beijing Cocktail" somehow inhibits the flow of epinephrine threw out his body. After Jason Statham is injected with this he has got to keep his adrenaline up threw Sex, Drugs and Violence.
What is everyone's general thoughts on it?

Can you live without epinephrine?
How do you think the "Beijing Cocktail" works?
How do drugs supply him with artificial adrenaline?
This would only include stimulants right?
This would only include phenylethylamines right?
Does it interfere with all the adrenergic receptors?
How does it interfere with adrenaline?

Feel free to move this. Couldn't decide if it was Pharmacology, Chemistry or Vacuous.

Is it possible that it would interfere with the adrenal glands, causing them to work in an impeded fashion, and i  read something that said that the Beijing Cocktail actually causes vital organ failure and the poison is merely slowed down by epinephrine. I don't see why constant shooting up of synthetic epinephrine wasn't the logical solution.

The FICTIONAL "Beijing Cocktail" would kill Jason right away, if it worked as they depict in the movie.

Maybe it could act as some sort of strong exotic Beta-blocker?!
That seems plausible...
