Help Build The Vespiary.
« on: February 23, 2009, 01:53:56 AM »
Hello great members!
I have been having a hard time starting this website. This is all new to me, and I am going to school. The time I have for this site I use to make it more efficient, by working out the kinks in the website, and figuring out the problems with the installation problems with the Image gallery, and the other modifications. I was wondering if you could help me out by advertising this site, and by posting more content. So far you guys have been great members, but I feel it is a little slow.

If you post at many other forums, or have a website, or blog, you could add The Vespiary banner to your signature, your pages, or just a link.

Some posts you can do that aren't very time consuming, or too involved is finding useful documents and links for the Library Thread, or the Links Thread. You could also ask questions on this forum. This would help our community greatly by allowing us to comment and attempt to answer your questions.

Anyways, thank you for anything you do you help, and what you have given our community already.  Please post if you have any questions or comments.

PS.  Some more Ideas I have had to advertise are posting this link in Yahoo Answers, Wiki Answers, and Digg.
Also you can give a thumbs up to it on Stumbleupon. Here is the link:

I'll do what I can to help, but I don't know if I will be able to increase views very much.
I think the problem with starting a community, including this great one, is that people would rather join a long estabolished one with many members. So in the begging its hard to get people to join, and it is hard to start up many conversations, etc.
but as time goes on, it will only get better! I've noticed this forum is about doubling in size every month. I wonder how long that trend can last?

I've been thinking about this recently...

I really think the whole trick about getting a good site is to have ORIGINAL posts, that appeal to the NOVICE AND ABOVE.

Look at The Hive. The most infamous of boards around. Essentially, at least in my opinion, their success was only defined because they had an ARMY of insane chemists and not just that ORIGINAL people...people who stepped outside the boundaries. I really think a good forum is about that, being ingenious and fresh. The best part is you don't have to be Dr. Shulgin to do that IMO, although it'd certainly help, but the fact that you can try new things.

It doesn't matter how experienced or inexperienced you are. A good forum in general is a place that has things other forums don't have, ingenuity.

...I actually stole this rant from my one friend(just a little bit). We were talking about women and relationships and he said "a girl wants one thing...something she can't find in other men that she'll want to stay with, something original"...and a lightbulb flashed over my head.
