Acid Trips and Chemistry
Cam Cloud

Acid--the chemical also known as LSD-25 - is among the most powerful mind-altering substances known to science. An unprecedented tool for spiritual and psychological exploration, acid takes effect after only a microscopic amount is ingested. Yet most people know very little about this influential molecule.

Exhaustively researched, Acid Trips and Chemistry cuts through the confusion and delivers the facts about:
Chemical formulas
The causes of a bad trip
What factors influence a trip
Acid's spiritual and creative effects
Plant sources of LSd-like chemicals
The myth of "bad" acid
The law and acid

Acid Trips and Chemistry also tells about the ergot fungus that underground chemists use to manufacture acid, along with how scientists cultivate ergot, proces it to extract chemicals, and transform the chemicals into LSD.

LSD-25 and Tryptamine syntheses
Overview and Reference Guide For Professionals [Psychoactive Synthesis Series Volume 2]
Otto Snow

Since the moratorium on LSD in the mid-sixties, large gaps in research have left important questions unanswered. Although the doses of street LSD are very low (20-75 ugs.) in comparison to the dangerously high doses of the sixties (250-750ugs.), a problem of misuse still remains.

Until controlled clinical studies are resumed using low dosages, most of what we know today will remain based on reports dating from the early sixties and fifties.

LSD-25 & Tryptamine Syntheses gives the reader an inside look into the chemistry and construction of these molecules. It is important for those in the legal and medical professions, law enforcement, and students of the neurosciences to have a greater understanding of these psychoactives.

Love Drugs
Otto Snow

Love Drugs is a sequel to Amphetamine Syntheses (2002) Expanded coverage of the synthesis of MDMA and other empathogens and stimulants.
Expanding the chemistry of empathogens. MDMA from scratch. Small and large scale production is described in detail. Hot new formulas abound. Piperonyl-acetone from both safrol and isosafrol. Multiple reduction methods using common and locally available metals.

MDA appeared in the 1960s and has been called the original love drug. It was the first in a series of molecules that produce empathy in humans. MDMA was appeared sporadically in the 1970s. MDEA followed ecstasy in the 1980s.

These molecules were controlled as they were being abused. Substituted phenyl amino-butanes have reduced abuse potential and greater safety margins. Yet, in 20 years, the development of safer entactogens has not taken place.

Love Drugs gives the reader a look at the most innovative chemistry for entactogen production. Explicit descriptions on safrol, apiol, asarone, dimethoxyallybenzene, etc. extraction from multiple botanical sources. Reviews of conventional syntheses with tips from the original chemists. Love Drugs is an inside look into the chemistry of the entactogens, present and future. Reactions have been translated into English. Millions across the globe have used MDMA as a therapeutic tool.

There is an infinite number of new entactogens on the horizon. 150+ references. Color cover. UV Laminated.

THC & Tropacocaine
Otto Snow

THC is a new miracle medication, used to treat sleep disorders allergies, inflammatory diseases, auto immune disorders, migraines, addictions, post traumatic stress disorder, anorexia, etc.
Syntheses of THC and chemical analogs are described. Human testing are also included. The extraction of THC (eg. 40%, 70% and 92% THC Hash Oil) from cannabis is detailed. Isomerisation: a quick route from cannabidiol.

The discovery of its endogenous ligand, anandamide (a fatty acid amide) has revolutionized the investigation of this new neurotransmitter system. Anandamides have been used in the treatment of insomnia, allergies and post traumatic stress disorder yet remain undeveloped. Anandamides will replaced THC and marijuana because of ease of synthesis; preparation from commonly available grocery store oils (eg. olive oil). Multiple reactions are explained.

Tropacocaine was discovered as a trace alkaloid in Coca leaves from Java. It is longer acting and less toxic than cocaine.

Tropacocaine is prepared from atropine obtained from nightshade plants. The synthesis of tropacocaine from Datura (eg. nightshade) is described and referenced. Reactions have been translated into English. Millions of Americans are addicted to cocaine and crack, yet tropacocaine has never been studied to assess its value as a replacement medication. 400+ refs. Color cover. Laminated.

"Most readers of this book will likely belong to that unusual set...who need no convincing of the value of psychedelic drugs. There will be others -- not in the choir, not even in the congregation of true believers -- who will greet this book's birthing with bafflement, shock, or even anger."
-- Daniel M. Perrine, Loyola College, Baltimore

"This book not only reveals how psychoactives can be synthesized, but also how they can be extracted from so many ordinary plants that the means for psychedelic exploration can never be controlled again. The genie is out of the bottle and all the king's horses and all the king's men cannot put it back again."

The lab books contain detailed experience reports about a wide variety of substances as well as notes on chemical processes, formulas, sketches, and hand-drawn graphs. When funding appeared for the project, the Shulgins' trusted assistants, gregM and Tania, began the labor intensive process of redacting the names of individuals whose privacy should be protected. The scanning is being facilitated by Archive.org and performed by gregM and Raj Kumar."
So, for now, we only have the First Notebook. I'll keep an eye out for more being posted, and there's apparently a project underway at erowid.org to transcribe the whole thing.

This book covers in great detail virtually all known methods for making LSD. Emphasis is placed on using botanical sources of lysergic acid such as ergot and morning glory seeds, but extraction of ergotamine migraine pills is also covered. Every recipe is presented along with references back to the original works in the scientific liturature. The terminology used in the scientific works has been clarified and simplified, but each procedure is true to the original work. In addition, I also cover the production of the psychedelic TMA-2 from easily available and cheap calamus oil. Now that sassafras oil is difficult to obtain, this subject should be of great interest.

Forensic Investigation of Clandestine Laboratories
Donnell. R. Christian Jr

Clandestine lab operators are not the mad scientists whose genius keeps them pent up in the laboratory contemplating elaborate formulas and mixing exotic chemicals. In fact, their equipment is usually simple, their chemicals household products, and their education basic. Most of the time the elements at the scene are perfectly legal to sell and own. It is only in the combination of all these elements that the lab becomes the scene of a criminal operation. Forensic Investigation of Clandestine Laboratories guides you, step-by-step, through the process of recognizing these illegal manufacturing operations. Then it shows you how to prove it in the courtroom. In non-technical language this book details:How to recognize a clandestine labHow to process the site of a clandestine labHow to analyze evidence in the examination laboratory What to derive from the physical evidenceHow to present the evidence in courtThe identification and investigation a clandestine lab, and the successful prosecution the perpetrators, is a team effort. A collaboration of law enforcement, forensic experts, scientists, and criminal prosecutors is required to present a case that definitively demonstrates how a group of items with legitimate uses are being used to manufacture an illegal controlled substance. Forensic Investigation of Clandestine Laboratories provides you with the information needed to understand how the different pieces of the clandestine lab puzzle fit together and take the steps to not only identify and shut down these operations, but also successfully prosecute the perpetrators.

Handbook of Forensic Drug Analysis
Jay. A. Siegal

"I learned a lot reviewing this book and I have been in forensic toxicology for forty years. I even found references to research I had published in my early years. So I can state that the contributors have done a great job in their historical entries. At first glance you may suspect that it deals only with drug identification, but it goes beyond solid or liquid dosage form identification. It includes coverage of blood and urine analysis as well as hair and saliva. Each chapter is heavily referenced. Dr. Fred Smith edits the book with eleven well recognized experts in their fields. This book is not a textbook, but a very useful reference book and belongs in the libraries of colleges and universities that offer programs in criminal justice or forensic science. All crime labs should have this book in the library." - Forensic Science International "The editor and authors have done a fine job of providing up-to-date information on analytical techniques, instrumentation and methods for the drugs most commonly seen in forensic drug laboratories. This reviewer was glad to see that the book includes a chapter on illicit drug manufacture, an area far too often not included in this type of book. Overall, this is a well written, comprehensive, informative book written by authors who are extremely well qualified and knowledgeable in their respective fields. It would be a fine addition to the library of any laboratory involved in the analysis of drugs of abuse." - Ashraf Mozayani, Forensic Science, Medicine and Pathology

The sixth volume in the series Medicinal and Aromatic Plants - Industrial Profiles is written by experts actively working in ergot research. Ergot (Claviceps purpurrea) is best known as a disease of rye and grasses. It is probably the most widely cultivated fungus and it has become an important field crop. Ergot alkaloids, which are extensively used in medicine, are the main reason for its importance. The book begins with the history of ergot research which is comparable to that of the discovery of penicillin. Review articles on Claviceps taxonomy, genetics, biogenesis and pharmacology are based on recent achievements in molecular biology - some of them published here for the first time. The chapters on ergot cultivation, physiology and biotechnology are written by distinguished experts in industry. Sections dealing with the chemistry of ergot alkaloids and biotransformation are comprehensive and serve as good reference material. Unique information on world producers

The Construction and Operation of Clandestine Drug Laboratories
Jack B. Nimble

This book describes in step-by-step detail how to set up and run a clandestine drug laboratory - without getting caught. Motivated by a heart-felt desire to dispel the abysmal ignorance of the American people regarding "drugs," the author reveals every aspect of running an illegal drug manufacturing lab.Jack B. Nimble reveals how to select a location for a clandestine drug laboratory, how to cover your tracks, safety precautions, and when and how to shut down your operation to keep out of the slammer. One of the most important chapters is Procurement of Suspicious Items, because chemical companies often watch certain reagents and report orders to the DEA, and in fact, are required to do so on certain chemicals. Also, the DEA often runs "Sting" operations by setting up fake chemical companies which sell suspicious chemicals and then arrest their customers. So, knowing how to extract suspicious chemicals from everyday products sold in hardware, grocery, and auto supply stores is absolutely vital for the underground chemist! Jack B. Nimble tells you how to extract safrole, the major ingredient needed to synthesize many methylenedioxy drugs such as MDA, MDMA, MMDA, "EVE," etc., from sassafras oil, which is available over-the-counter in grocery stores and pharmacies; ephedrine and other good precursors to amphetamines from "asthma medications"; high quality ether from "starting fluid"; chloroform from "spot remover"; and the usually difficult to find tetrahydrofuran from "PVC pipe cleaner." In this chapter, the author also discusses how to find a "legitimate" use for chemicals you need, and how to order them from regular chemical supply houses. The author also discusses how to manufacture your own glassware and other laboratory equipment from everyday items. Also covered are tablets, capsules, and other packaging methods for illegal drugs. The clandestine laboratories described in this book don't have to be used to make illegal psychoactive drugs - they could be used to manufacture medicines and useful chemicals in a war or survival situation. This book is sold for informational purposes only.

Marijuana and the Cannabinoids
Mahmoud A. ElSohly PhD

Marijuana and the Cannabinoids presents a compendium of research into the botany, chemistry, and pharmacology of cannabis and the medicinal aspects of the cannabinoids. While medicinal use of Cannabis sativa L. has been reported for over 5000 years, interest in its medicinal potential and controversy surrounding its illicit use have grown exponentially since the identification of the chemical structure of the plant's active constituent (D9-THC) in 1964. This volume presents the findings of researchers on the forefront of this emerging and controversial field of study.
Chapter 1 is an overview of Cannabis and natural Cannabis medicines, while Chapter 2 focuses on the chemistry and analysis of phytocannabinoids and other Cannabis constituents. Chapter 3 discusses the potential of chemical fingerprinting of Cannabis as a means for source identification, and Chapters 4 and 5 outline the chemistry and pharmacology of cannabinoids and marijuana smoke condensate. In Chapter 6, the endocannabinoid system and the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids is presented. Chapter 7 provides technologies, development strategies, and multilevel applications for immunoassays for the detection of Cannabis abuse. In Chapter 8, mass spectrometric methods for the analysis of cannabinoids in physiological specimens are described. Chapters 9-12 discuss various consequences and adverse effects of prolonged marijuana use, including medical and health concerns and driving impairments. Chapters 13 and 14 examine postmortem considerations and the effects of cannabinoids on biopsychological, neuropsychiatric, and neurological processes.

When I scanned Love Drugs, I made two versions. I think you've got the original big version there, unless someone has come through and made changes. The big version has a page image overlaid on the text, and the small one does not. Hehe, the tag on the first page of the small one is a little outdated  8)

Here's the small version. Perhaps you could add this version to your post?

Thanks for sharing that enkidu, I will check out your link and if all is in order I will swap them over. There are a couple of cases like Psychedelic chemistry, Ergot the genus claviceps that are the same as the others but the files are just massive, one is 100mb and the other nearly 200mb. I will keep those links up until replacements can be used. Also Psychedelic chemistry has a couple of pages missing, if anyone needs a certain page to fix the pdf I can scan them (you just need to tell me the page number required) and I will upload it on the condition the fixed PDF with the new pages is posted back here for everyone. I would do it but I am really busy lately.

edit; Enkidu I can not download from 4shared as I have Java disabled for security reasons, could you please provide another link (please).

As Vesp said though, we could run into trouble (again) with certain books from the bigger publishing houses, if that is the case we will not be able to host those books here. To try and stop that happening I have been and would recommend anyone else not naming the pdf file with the title of the book, a non descriptive title like 'book34advtech.pdf'  for Festers Advanced Techniques book would mean the people looking for violations of their copywrite would have to be a member here and actively browse this thread to know it was here! As sending a spider to bring back everything with a similar name to your book will also bring back the publicly available FTP files that are named the same as or close to the title. Even if the spiders have been blocked from the actual site, for example you can search and pull anything you want from vespiaries FTP via Google (try it!).

Google Search For 'Vespiary Sedit'

Google search for 'Vespiary Naf1'

Over the next few days I will change all the names of the files to non-descriptive ones. A worst case scenario would be to zip the file and password protect it (same as rapidshare raping ala rogue sci).

Also if anyone has any books they think will be appreciated here, if you put up a link I will download it and put them up here with the cover pic and blurb, etc. Or simply follow the format I have used and post them here (but I will still download it and upload it to the FTP). Theres more to come, btw.

I really wish is to be done, it allows us to share with others while significantly lowering any risks associated with  holding the content...

If everyone had their own library thread, that would be cool as well.

Yeah sorry micro, it is up there for historical reasons only. There is a bit missing from it, scribd does not have total synthesis I which was the first one he wrote. Then he updated and revised it and called it total synthesis II. So if you download total synthesis II (which is the same as scribd) you will get the whole book with everything that was missing from the first one (as it is the same book, but updated). Total synthesis I and Phsychedelic chemistry are the only two with any pages missing all the others are complete (sorry again). I will start adding some more books soon!

Documentation of a Heroin Manufacturing Process in Afghanistan
U. Zerell, B. Ahrens and P. Gerz

ABSTRACT
The present article documents an authentic process of heroin manufacturing in Afghanistan: white heroin hydrochloride produced using simple equipment and a small quantity of chemicals. The quantities of chemicals actually used corresponded to the minimum needed for manufacturing heroin. The only organic solvent used was acetone, and only a very small quantity of it was used. Because the chemicals used in the demonstration were from actual seizures in Afghanistan, some of the chemicals had been disguised or repackaged by smugglers. Others had been put into labelled containers that proved to be counterfeit, and some glass containers used were not the original containers of the manufacturer displayed on the label. The brown heroin base prepared as an intermediate step in the process shares some of the characteristics of the South-West Asia type of heroin preparations often seized in Germany. The final product of the documented heroin manufacturing process was white heroin hydrochloride, which shares the key characteristics of the white heroin occasionally seized in Germany and other countries in Western Europe since 2000. The present article demonstrates that this kind of heroin can be produced in Afghanistan.

That is an article from the Bulletin on Narcotics below, it is such a good article I though it deserved its own link;
