Useful Links
« on: January 01, 2009, 03:08:03 AM »
Please post useful links that are related to any topic on this website.
We all know how difficult it can be to find useful links, great forums, and various other things. In hopes of counteracting this difficulty, I would like to compile a list of useful links. So please post useful links that are related this website or science in general.

I hope we can get a large list that can help out the people who find the link page and this thread.

These ones are also really nice and have links to their other sites involving what appears to be almost any drug.

This is a nice link with a ton of organic reactions. I have found it to be very helpful.

Anymore links?

This is probably better off in the pharmacology section since it deals mostly with that, but its not that important despite how great the links are, etc.

Found this link on SM and i'm not my computer right now so instead of favoriting it, I'm just going to post it here

lots of good chemistry articles it seems, but I'll look at it later to determine if that claim is true.

It's probably going to be down for some time. I have a relatively up to date archive that I'll upload to my folder when I get home today.

A temporary Rogue Science forum has been created and can be found here - http://rstemp.1.forumer.com/index.php?act=idx

Please let anyone you know that was a member of RS that this is the new place for the moment until we get more permanent hosting for the future. Announcements will be made there regarding a replacement forum until the fate for RS is known.

This has been posted but thought I'd re-do it here, hence perhaps more accessible.
Re: Lots of GOOD chem/biochem/medicinal/science books, If you scroll, you have access to older posts which give rise to some treasures.

Lots of good chemistry books! Make sure you check this out;
http://avaxsearch.com/avaxhome_search?q=chemistry&a=&c=&l=&sort_by=relevance&commit=Search
If you further refine your search you will be surprised at the amount of good chem books they have.

Lots of good journals with their own search engine;

ARKAT
http://www.arkat-usa.org/search-arkivoc/

More;

The Chemical Society Of Japan
http://www.journalarchive.jst.go.jp/english/jnltop_en.php?cdjournal=cl1972

You have access to these most of the time, sometimes not. If you have a Canadian ip or proxy you have full access;

National Research Council Canada
http://pubs.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/eng/journal_search.html

Awesome! I'm sure it isn't hard to get a Canadian IP address if need be, or find someone from Canada on the forums.

http://www.4shared.com/file/135743151/eeab0b65/8122415393_Medicinal_Chemistry.html

This has some very interesting preps, and in particular an interesting Mannich style reaction, that doesn't just extend the carbon skeleton by one additional methylene link, well it does, but the nitrogenous base attaches to a secondary carbon, alpha to the carbonyl carbon,, I always thought that a manach reaction resulted from the aldehyde reacting with the Nitrogen base, thus forming an imine, and the ketone forming a resonating enol, thus able to attach the electrophilic imine, hence extend the carbon skeleton always by 1,
This is with respect to the preperation of N-Methylephedrone,, and doesn't seem to fit, with my understanding at least of a Mannich reaction, It has also made me wonder if indeed methylamine was used, then an ephedrone may result/
It is almost as if the acetephenone molecule has formed an enol, and this has reacted with paraformaldehyde, and creating, a Phenylprop-3-ene-1-one, that is somehow attacked by the neucleophilic amine, at the sec position, but obviously not going near the carbonyl..Perhaps I am not seeing things so well, but apart from this reaction, this book, does have some interesting preps, and I also would like to discuss this manich style reaction, also, but this wasn't the main point in posting this prep book.
