| SWIDP is having a tough time obtaining this. Could someone direct SWIDP to a good source via PM? |

Simply mix and grind a mole of Potassium carbonate with a mole of Urea and heat.
Check the 4mar thread I posted a patent there.
VEry easy. |

| Doesn’t urea give off like plumes of stink when it’s heated? If it does I can't do such a reaction where I live at the present time. I found another place that sells it, but this place was under "Who Watches the Watchers" in "Sources" so I'll probably steer clear of that one. I'm awaiting replies from other suppliers. Most of them like to sell this chemical in bulk only for some reason. |

| SWIM thinks the decomposition of urea to be around 160oC, so not to worry. SWIM also spills(sometimes just like to throw it on the hot plate to watch it sublimate or whatever it does when a white plume of smoke arises) it on hotplates. Never noticed any funky smell. |

urea decomp starts at 212oF = 100oC apparently -->

The fumes could be vented through a ghetto scrubber. There wouldnt be too much to worry about but just for paranoias sake rig up a ghetto scrubber...

I dont know about your area,but around here Urea is extremely common,found in the garden section of the local hardware store.Used as fertiliser.
Urea will let off ammonia with this rxn.As AC said just vent into a scrubber with dilute acid.
If you cant find urea go to a pool specialist and buy some (iso)cyanuric acid.
They sell it in pure form for cheap. |

| Cyanuric acid 1,2 mol (pool supply) and 1 mol potash are mixed and heated for some hours. Much less stink as with urea. |
