SWIDP cleaned their MBRP like they always do... pull with acetone, wash with HCl, wash with more acetone, and wash with a lot of dH2O water. After drying SWIDP could tell something was wrong because the RP was darker than usual and had an acidic odor... almost enough to burn their nose a little bit. SWIDP put the RP (2.6gm) back into 250ml of dH2O to check the pH and it was 3.6! SWIDP never checked the pH of the water before because the RP always came out looking and smelling right and the same matches where used. These matches have always been consistent. Probably like 10ml of HCl was used to remove the other chemicals. Anyway, SWIDP washed this 2.6gm of RP with more than one liter of dH2O and the pH of the water is 4.5 and it was dropping a little. Actually, SWIDP just checked it and now it's going up a little... 4.58. Confused

One thing SWIDP forgot to mention... this time when they warmed up the HCl they got distracted by something and probably let it get too hot for a few minutes. Maybe it was too much HCl and that it almost boiled. Maybe SWIDP should do another acetone wash and boil it in dH2O? This is more than likely SWIDP fault, but I wonder if they are adding some type of crap to these.

OK... this is some weird shit. SWIDP washed with dH2O and pH stayed at ~4.5. SWIDP then washed with acetone and the pH was ~6.9. Then SWIDP washed with dH2O again and the pH goes back down ~4.5. Something acidic is coming out in the water. This has to be some kind of new additive. SWIDP has washed 2.6gm of RP with close to half a gallon of water! The matches that SWIDP normally gets did have a new cover this time, but this seemed to have to do with advertising.

sorry this is a little off topic but, when scraping the rp from the mb and swim is using a hand rotar, what would be the best rotor to use? ie: sandpaper or grinding rotor? in one particular mbrp extract technique it states using a 'cutting wheel', but the cutters are very thin and would probably do fuck all, but the sanding wheels and grinders have more width, any suggestions? cheers,
