I'm a newbie! I would like to ask about the synthesis of Alkyl nitrites. How is this done? Where can i find the needed chemicals? 10x in advance! Smile

Sciencemadness has good info on the preparation of isopropyl nitrite. It is used to make azide from hydrazine. here for example:

Mmmmm alkyl nitrites, excellent for making phenylpropamines Wink

Alkyl Nitrites are esters so they can be made from the corresponding alkyl halide and sodium nitrite (see rhodium archive)
