How do you all deal with vacuum leaks? Vasoline keeps melting into SWIN's flasks. |

tape will last longer(one or two runs compared to half a distillation w/vas) even though it is a pain to keep stuck sometimes. SWIM just used vasoline in a pinch a couple of days ago and it was no match for the tape. SWIM uses tape and helps the sassy come over around 55C |

yeah teflon tape, as strike says in ts2, 'the duct tape of the 21st century'... if u use silicone grease, make sure you only grease up the top half of the inner cone joint, you don't want the silicone grease to be anywhere near the bottom of the joint. |

Taping a ball-joint isn't that difficult. I'm not entirely sure how it would work under vacuum, but it holds up fine against my 2,400psi O2 cylinder. You have to do a couple wraps, and offset your direction a bit each time. Kinda hard to describe, other than you'll wrap a bit past the joint as well. Hell, do a couple layers if you like, it should all squish together rather nicely under vacuum. |

Silicon grease is what swim uses. It has been placed in a plastic syringe and in this way small amounts of grease can be smoothly applied to the upper part of ground joints. Just rotate a few times and you have a leak free conection.
