After reading about the production of hydrogen cyanide via the heating of dilute sulphuric acid with potassium ferrocyanide I was wondering if it were possible to convert benzyl chloride into benzyl cyanide by reacting it directly with the potassium ferrocyanide rather than with potassium cyanide ?

If this method could be accomplished it would eliminate the handling of hydrogen cyanide/potassium cyanide.

Do organo-ferrocyanides excist ?
