New to the crew

Thought I would introduce myself to the crew that manage this site, and those who browse and contribute.
But before that.. let me say.. I love what this is about, and what your doing. Knowlege is endless... and you can never have enough.
for about a 3 years and some I was contributing to a site that was mainly about the study of mycology. about a year and a half ago I realized there was blatently a site for almost everything. One for chemistry, one for mycology, and a few hundred about pot. I thought... these sites left out a giant chunk of what basically is summed up as ethnos. So I started a site which sold and maintained a board like this which basically is about nothing BUT ethnos.
Then sites started getting closed down... and in fear of being damaged by our friends in the force.. I shut down my store, and said goodbye to online sales... however keeping my board up.. just in case anyone was intrested.
roughly 2 weeks of closing my store.. I Was given a book by a good friend of mine. had a cute little picture of a bee on it titled " Total Synthesis II".
Kept me ocupied in reading for quite some time.
I did some quick online searching, and came across a site, which was allready taken down.
just a few days ago... shot across this. ... thought to myself.. hellyes... and poof.. en-listed.
Now the stupid part.. is I don't know MUCH about chemistry... jut some basic a/b , solvent extraction type stuff... so I hope that doesn't get me shunned. But i'll be damned to try and hang on and try and learn something from you guys... maybe I can teach you something about ethnos or other...
anyways... thast my speach.. sorry it's so long
((kept the names of sites secret as I don't want to come off as spamming.. and I want to take nothing away from the magic here /n there))

| Kolizion, welcome. Hope you stick around for a while. And Org, that's not a very nice way to greet new members... A little uncalled for, don't you think? 'The hell did he do to deserve that? |

apreciated, primathon.
I'll keep around... but some of this stuff is waaay over my head. .. thought about going back to school to learn a bit about organic... but it's money I don't have.. and I really don't feel like jumping back into a system that felt like forever to get out of... so i'm just self teaching as I go along. Not the smartest way to go about it.. but I hope it gets me by. |

kolizion, hate to do this to you buddy, but...
SWIh was loved cultivating shrooms back when PF was around. Always used the PF strain. Recently tried using the same tech with some "other" strain mbox 20mL (can't remember strain name, but it was the only strain in the 20 mL version).
The results were terrible compared to the PF strain. Do you know of a good strain for using the original PF tech? Which direction would you suggest?
Sorry if this is innapropriate, but it seems like a good way to welcome you to the community. |

((no worrys at all buddy))
all cubes are essentially the same in growth... however some tend to be more resistant then other strains in the cube family.
I would definatly stay with the cube strain, as any other strain would just be essentially difficulty to try and concider.
I would suggest taking a look into
Golden teachers - very hardy..
B+ strain is very very hardy .. many have success with that one.((seemingly a favorite)
Equidor (my favorite - very pretty)
and if you can find it.... Orissa India (my absolute fav. of favorites.
those are prolyl the BEST strains to play with the pf-tek .. and should show you great fruits.
I would suggest doing some research on "casing" after you have sucessfully done pf-tek... you'll be far happier with the ned result.. but I stress practice with pf-tek first before you go all superman |

not sure if I answerd your question all the way.. if you have any more.. feel free to ask,, and i'll be glad to answer the best I can.
side note
pftek is the best way to start, there are other subtrates.. but take a well trained hand.
but if you require that info.. i'll share it when asked... |

Thank you for the response. I can't even find the SP20 syringe online, anymore.
Several years back, SWIh had mucho success with the PF Tek. SWIh would call himself a PF Tek pro.
He/she is aware of the other substrates, and that was the idea getting back into the cultivation. SWIh was going to do a couple of runs with the PF tek because he/she is familiar with that. The purpose would be to check out the strains, get back in the groove, etc. SWIh was dumbfounded by the poor results and was worried that the "white thumb" wan't there anymore.
Back when SWIh was cultivating mushrooms, PF was still selling spores and the those were the only ones that SWIh ever used. Then the "albino" spores came out from PF and after that all hell broke loose. SWIh had an entire summer of poor spores from PF, after the albinos. Contamination became a huge problem, which PF later admitted to having serious problems in the strain as a specific result of the mutation to the albinos. SWIh quit cultivating shortly after the contamination incident, and didn't find out they were bad spores until much, much later. PF even offered free spore syringes to those that were plagued by the bad spores. SWIh didn't get in on it becaus he/she didn't even realize until it was too late.
Now, SWIh will plan to have another run at the cultivation. He/she still has terrariums & a dessicator for the products.
Here's a question. SWIh even has about 36 to 48 PF cake jars that he/she prepped and sterilized about 8 months, ago. Do you think these are good to innoculate or should SWIh make a fresh batch?
Thanks for the help, and SWIh hopes he/she can help SWIy with SWIy's endeavors, eventually. (hope you know the terminology SWIy, SWIM, SWIh, WTF, AFOAF).

anything is possible....
if there isn't anything else going on inside those jars by now.. then they should be safe... and tell yer friends to go ahead and innoc. If your friend doesn't really feel right about it.. go with the gut feeling and re-make. Yea it's a pain in the ass to sit by the pc all afternoon.... but better to have it done right, then have your efforts fail you in the end.
let the effort be worth it. |

| The only worry was that perhaps some of the water had evaporated. Maybe SWIh will try both, for future reference. SWIh still needs new spores, anyway, so there's plenty of time to sterilize substrate. |
