Just out of curiosity,

Suppose one wanted to scale up to a pilot lab scale, what books can I read?

Like instead of vacuum distillation with 1 Liter rb flask, doing the same distillation at 200 liter scale?

Or vacuum filtration, instead of Buchner funnel and filter flask, using a scale of 200 or 300 liters.

Any pointers. Googling brings up a lot of crap and misleading ads but very little learning info. Any good books or sites? Thanks.

the best thing would be to ask a process engineer. there is a book called Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry 6th Edn. which could probably fit your requirements.

There is the e-book version of it but it's 625MB too large for rapidshare and megaupload, the only hope is having a gmail where it can be stored and the link given ....but I have to see if there is a demand for the book ....................java

Ullman's is on the overnet network. You can almost certainly find a client for your OS by googling.

"Scale up in chemical engineering" - Marko Zlokarnik
"Chemical reactor design, optimization, and scaleup" - E.B. Nauman
