These recent pictures of MiNds attempt at a continuous BzCl production setup, which has thus far been unsuccessful for those curious. MiNd sharing these pics just to show the easiest, most efficient, and inexpensive (depsite the expensive pump it is based on) setup for Cl2 production, utilizing entirely OTC items; tubing, and chems.

digital Pump which pumps otc HCl into a vessel (used one gallon cleaned out bleach PE container) of hypochlorite thus resulting in production of the Cl2.

Thick walled semi-clear PE tubing of 1/4" was utilized for this entire project, and on that note PE tubing has been MiNds best friend for countless years now..

But this pic makes example of quite a few of MiNds methods , such as:
using PE tubing,
using rubber stoppers/ends,
use of empty OTC food glass bottles as flasks and boiling flasks,
use of of poly (PE) plastic containers as rxn vessels,

You'll also notice MiNds poly based DIY attachment to the condensor at the distillate end,

As for attaching the PE tubing to the plastic caps of the PE 1gal containers, a small hole with diameter smaller than the PE tubing is drilled w/cordless drill, and the pe tubing is forced into the hole(s) and surprisingly MiNd is able to make air tight seals doing such, though you could caulk/glue around the seal to double check/ensure an air tight seal for the worrisome or more permanent production setups.

As well MiNd himself always utilizes veggie oil heating baths, and his empty one gallon WINE BOTTLEs as boiling flasks, and MiNd has previously preached such, unknowing if any has ever taken this gold nugget of advice, but MiNd pays $8 at the grocery store for these supber flasks and they even come full of wine! What a deal, and yee only need add a $2-3 of rubber table leg caps from yer hardware store for attachment of any lab glass..

But MiNd chose to share this pic as it really examplified many of MiNds everyday ODDBALL methods; and such showing the 'best' Cl2 production method in MiNds opinion; and kind of as a continuation or pictation of some of the things MiNd has mentioned in his MAA Electro cell thread with good input and methods from bio as well. But MiNd did promise someone the details on the Cl2 setup, so this fulfills that promise.

Hey; another really cool setup. Wish I had a digi cam I would show you the overhead sludge stirrer I just finished. Clamped on a ring stand with an 18 inch shafted propeller
it runs smoooth.

Took a small DC permanent magnet motor (36mm dia x 58mm) out of a printer. It's the biggest one that drives the encoder shaft. Anyway this little baby has me totally amazed. At 800mA 12V input it's able to stir 10 liters of simulated sludge made from baby diaper gel (poly acrylate). It stirs the same amount of water at 4V 200mA.

Why did I wait so long to do this. Hell my 4inch X 1/2 magnet on the 12inch stirrer plate stalls out at about a 4 liter load of anything thick and viscous. Nice thing with the PM motors is they don't run out of torque when sloed way down like an AC motor does.

hahahahah rofl,
I'll have to re-picture my lumber/drill overhead stirrer setup for anything up to a 20l reaction...

too much!! bio, I'm beginning to like yio!

p.s.

For those curious,
it is the middle picture, that the actual Cl2 production phase takes place, which was the entire purpose of posting this thread...

That is the BOTTOM HALF of the moveable cart/table that MiNd has pictured of his..
those pictures illustrate MiNds latest design/attempt at a continuous industrial run & setup of BzCl production testing some theorys of MiNds, though the BzCl production as such has been unsuccessful to date.. Sad

MiNds theoretical and tried, setups does pictorify an exemplary Cl2 setup! For the industrial/commerical producer that is, besides the small time lab chemist should he possess or purchase a decent digital dosing pump such as the many gamma's MiNd owns.. Fuck! MiNd owns $15k+ worth of Gamma pumps alone, and they were well worth it! For anyone whom can purchase any,, MiNd suggest's buying 3-4 for the avg. chemist...
