Damintiaus!

Ok, now that SWIM has got 3,4-DHBA (25g), she needs to know what is the best procedure next. Should she close the ring to form the methylene brigde first? SWIM means, any B tried this route b4?

yes close the ring first and make it our beloved aldehyde. never tried the route in DMF with Br2Me, even though everything is at hand.

Good, SWIM will try closing it and once the piperonal is achieved then the rest should follow quite easily.
thanks

i forgot something...store piperonal/benzaldehyde under a solution of hydrochinone in IPA/EtOH in the freezer so it doesn't decompose.

Thanks Joe. I will have to put the project on hold for a while, because of personal problems Surprised( Once I get more money I will continue working on this. But meanwhile I will store like you sujested.

BTW, what's the concentration of hydrochinone in IPA/EtOH?

Thanks

1g for every 25g of aldehyde is fine.
