Hi
I am looking for synthetical procedure to obtain ferrofluid by sol-gel method using Fe2+ and Fe3+ salts 1:2. In the articles i could read this topic ferrofluid is obtained by co-precipitation the solutions of these two salts in 1M amonia. In some aticles is observed syntheses of ferrofluid using inert N2 atmosphere and heating to 90C.
My questions are: Whats the purpose of using inert atmosphere and why need heating?
