Hello,
I am a first year chemstudent, doing a extended double degree in Chemistry,

I have found a few good chemistry sites, concerning chem 100,101,

Hey cool, every information higly appreciated, as, for example, i'm still trying to figure out what a "double mannich reaction" might be ...

Hmm, a double Mannich Hey,

Here's an online tutorial,
http://www.sumanasinc.com/webcontent/anisamples/chemistry/mannich.html

It's a super special way of making Piperidones, and other alkaloids,

It's where Ning left off, in the synthesis of NPP(N-Phenethyl Piperidone)
A precursor for Fentanil, Carfentanil, etc(super potent opiodal compounds)

You see originally to make a pyridine, piperidone, MMA(Methyl------acrylates), and dieckman cyclization are used, incurring impossible to get reagents,.

But with a double mannich, Piperidones, can be formed with basic ingredients like Acetone, formaldehyde, and say PEA's, (much Simpler)

This is where our research ended,
When Ican find the ref's form the hive, there are two Simple synth's forming NPP, in an elegant versatile way,
I will keep digging,.

1-(2-phenylethyl)-4-piperidone, which was synthesized from phenethylamine and methyl acrylate, followed by a Dieckmann condensation and decarboxylation
