I also frequent a newsgroup. I was told by someone that if you substitute the Methyl group for a Cl atom that these compounds are essentially the same pharmacologically with regards to dose and effects. I am wondering if there are others here that may be able to confirm or refute this statement. Any information would be appreciated.

jsummer I edited your post to reflect the correct spellings of the substances in the title of your post Very Happy

Methaqualone (2-methyl-3-ortho-tolyl-4(3H)quinazolinone)

Mecloqualone (2-methyl-3-ortho-chloro-phenyl-4(3H)-quinazolinone)

If you have not downloaded any of the Rhodium Archives, do so. There are a few topics covering these substances if I recall.

I would assume their effects would be quite similar but I would have to do a little research to confirm that.

The synthesis of the two substances is quite straight forward, as long as you can source the precursors.
