Hi
I have a little question abut Butylamine.
I bought n-Butylamine. it has the labeling: n-Butylamine H8H19N (Question what should that be???)
I checked solubility and Boiling Point:
-not soluble in H2O
-soluble in EtOH
-Bp: 135-140°C
-strong amine-like odour
-inflammable
-clear Liquid

that canīt be n-Butylamine (C4H11N)
i guess itīs Di-sec.-Butylamine (C8H19N)

Can anyone tell me what this stuff is, or how i convert it to n-Butylamine?
Is it possible to use this as a catalyst for Benzaldehyde Nitroethane Condensation to "P2nP"??

Since di-sec-butylamine is four times more expensive than n-Butylamine i can not understand how he could send me that instead the right thing... Confused

Sorry for eventually bad spelling. English is not my native language, but i will try to do better in future. But since i want to know what i have and what i can do with it, iīm takin that risk to blame myself

As you can see they are totally different, doubt you can make it work in the planned experiment.......java

Ok thx!
I just thought that it could be possible to synthesize the primary amine from it?!?
otherwise i try this experiment with methylamine made from Hexamethylenetetramine.
