Hello folks.
Im trying to find out, if the commercially available product dubbed Ethylenediamine diacetate (CAS RN : 38734-69-9), is in fact Ethylenediammonium diacetate. If not, can it be used in the same manner for nitrostyrene synthesis from benzaldehyde?

amine salt = ammonium salt, yes.

Methylamine hydrochloride for example is also methylammonium chloride.

I wasn't aware that it is commercially available, but if it is it can be used of course.

But if it is some acetylated amine derivative ( Question ) and not carboxylic acvid salt, I don't know if it will work.

How much does it cost? Ethylenediamine goes for a few bucks/liter (around 50 IIRC), and is good for a whole shitload of EDDA - together with some alcoholic solvent, enough GAA and 2 reXtalizations you get something resembling clean sugar, purity probably >95% (from MeOH)...

it is quite expensive, but comes at >98% purity. I dont think this is very tempting to buy, becuae of the high price, and ease of synthesizing.
Also there is a product dubbed Ethylenediamine Dihydrochloride, for much much cheaper. 50$ would get u around 200g of 98% purity. I wonder if this can be used much the same way as the diacetate.... maybe swim will put it to the test sometime soon...

it is a solid, white in color, beware it is VERYYY hydroscopic. (kinda like methylamine).
