normally, obituary would not presume to present any materials in this forum, and should this material be in the wrong forum, he apologizes.  he has not previously seen this posted and it may be well known, but it is a novel way to anthranilic acid for obituary, and as such, is a novel way to quualudes.  he does not know whether anyone but cheapskate cares for this information but he it is presented:

isatin - oxidation by CrO3--> isatoic anhydride (in itself can be helpful)

Isatin -direct oxidation via alkali/H2O2--> anthranilic acid

or isatoic anhydride <--equilibrium in H+/COCl2--> anthranilic acid

if obituary is remembering right, both isatoic anhydride and anthranilic acid can be used in quualude synthesis.

comments? flames?  remarks of high intelligence unwelcome.

Rhodium

Do you have any refs on that isatin => isatoic anhydride oxidation?

Isatoic anhydride can be used directly in the synth of quaalude, see my Quaalude FAQ at my page.
