I ask this question purely in the hope that it trggers some discussion.
Has anyone heard of Caro's acid? It is analoguous to Peracetic or Performic acid and is made in a similar way.

H2SO4 + H2O2 ---> H2SO5 + H2O.

Would this acid attack the allyl double bond forming the pol? I ask because so many people have disputed the straight H2SO4 version. I have never tried it so cannot comment.
This species is surely going to bee more reactive but it may screw the benzene ring or it's substituants.

Best wishes to the lot of you,
