about the shellite though, is callite the same thing? and does swim have to freeze the callite to precipitate the fb xtals? swim thinks that the *camp fuel* is not aggresive enough, theres probs along the line as the yield is incredibly low, like 100mgs from 2grams!! wtf?

| sounds more likely to do with pH. it takes a hell of a lot more base to basify it because it is so loaded with salt (salts buffer the pH of solutions). swim used about 100ml of 50/50 lye solution to get it to work. |

Not sure about the shellite/callite. SWIh isn't from oz, just heard that ozbees were using shellite with success.
About the CAMP FUEL, the VM&P Naptha is chosen for its laziness, not it's aggressiveness. Freebase pfed is sparingly soluable in cold Naptha, but it is quite soluable in hot Naptha. There have been some that claimed success using camp fuel, and some problems reported, too.
NOTE: Sources include *brand names*, *store names*, etc. Don't post any "sources" means don't name something that could really tip of the LE to regulate something. No harm done. |

| yeah, swim definitely can verify the utility of the australian light (low bp) mineral spirits commonly available at supermarkets. |

| i think shellite may possibly more solvent than c****s fuel, i don't know... i haven't really seen anything which suggests that napthas are any different from each other. they do vary from season to season, they are basically the residual fractions from isolating specific pure fractions, so the exact composition is somewhat determined by the amount of the special fractions that are sold and possibly it varies somewhat from one crude oil source to another. |

Hilfe! SWIM over here in germany has a hard time finding an adequate substitute for vm&p naphta
What is so special about vm&p? The low boiling point?
I guess thinners with xylene in it are not really suitable.
SWIM found some petrolether here at a chem supplier with a bp of 40-70°c but that isn't otc.
Any german dreamers in here who could point (pm) SWIMS cat to a feasible otc source?
Verdammt.. even toluol is easier to find here |

now if you can't find it from that you don't deserve to know. for fucks sake, what did computer programmers invent search engines for anyway. |

Danke Loki
guess i try reinigungsbenzin then.. too bad it is sold only in little 250ml cans :/
i was a bit afraid because all the extraction teks stress the importance not to use any substitutes for vm&p (as if it is available all over the globe) |
