.....after reading March, perhaps halogenation and then a substitution with an alcohol might do it.....maybe just thinking outloud....this link was a good review,

http://www.erowid.org/archive/rhodium/chemistry/mda.dalcason.html

....but not too helpfull however this study seems better.....

GC–MS and GC–IRD Studies on the Ring Isomers of
N-Methyl-2-Methoxyphenyl-3-Butanamines (MPBA)
Related to 3,4-MDMA

....here is another study as a review,

The Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology of 3,4-Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, “Ecstasy”)

one more.....

Java, the attached paper could bee helpful too concerning the halogenation:

Picking your thought up, how about a second halogen before alcoholysis, for DMMDA? Sounds most interesting from these compounds.

...see attached added file on previous post....

Oh sorry my apologies, you are too fast for me, I saw your two posts and thought about my reply, and had it ready to post when I noticed there were two new attachments in the second one, but I havent recognized them.

I found MMDA to be a disappointment.
In me it induces a deep state of apathy, nystagmus, vertigo and drowsiness. The CEVs were a weak/faint random jumble of images at 350mg. The most pleasant thing about it was a pleasant psychedelic afterglow type feeling as it was wearing-off but I couldn't be bothered trying it again.

It was prepared via 5-Bromovanillin -> 5-Hydroxyvanillin, Methylenation etc...
