In this Topic http://127.0.0.1/talk/index.php/topic,2463.msg25835.html#msg25835 it is well described that you can't make easily barbiturates from barbituric acid. you should go from the malonic ester which is a lot easier.

CAREFUL with barbital. It will take you and destroy you if you are not extremely careful. It got hold of toady and fucked him up, and not in a good way. W/D is worse than any benzo, opioid etc., worse than you can possibly imagine in your worst nightmares.
Good stuff to get messed up on, but get physically dependent and you will wish yourself flayed alive and dumped in HF(aq.) a thousand times over.

yeah mister toadmans right again, as barbiturate addiction will end up in the desire to sleep all the time, or rest at least because you are so busy doin barbie....
luminol, the first barby, made me sleep all day, wake up carelessness and chilled, but addicted aswell.. never got really addiccted luckily

Would have been OK that time, Toady had a bit over an oz of lab-grade barbital (its used as a PH buffer amongst a couple of other things in bioscience labs), got physically dependent, could have tapered off it, but oh, no...fucking filth went and remanded me. That was NOT a pleasant time, still have some major problems left over from that, even years later.
